VESTIGE — INSCRIPTION
A trace of the past. A return to the core.
A paring down.
A sharpening.
A shift from excess to discipline, from impulse to control. Precise. Measured.
Vestige is an evolution of work, of self. A shedding. A distillation. What remains is essential: every line, every void, a decision. A structure shaped by clarity.
The collection holds three typefaces.
Lettrine was first; raw, ornamental, more gesture than system. Varak followed; tighter, heavier, held in control. Then Tavir; drawn to steady the rest. Quiet. Exact. Present.
In the quiet, absence speaks. Details are stripped back so meaning can surface. This is design at its edge, intentional, unyielding, reduced. A tribute to what remains. A commitment to what’s ahead. A language of form; brutal, essential, inevitable.

Typography is no longer dictated by the limitations of past tools. The rigid structures of metal type, the constraints of the printing press, and even the standardized expectations of digital design have all given way to an era where letterforms can exist in any form imaginable.
But this freedom is not an excuse for excess,it is an opportunity for intentional design that questions how type functions beyond its historical dependencies.

This approach does not treat typography as a passive system for delivering meaning, but as an active visual structure, one that operates between pattern and text, recognition and abstraction, function and disruption.
Legibility is not the primary objective; instead, typography becomes an environment that guides, misleads, fragments, and reconstructs perception.
Letters behave as both symbols and systems, forming compositions that invite the viewer not just to read, but to observe, navigate, and decipher.

YET This isn’t a rejection of classical typography.
It runs parallel to it.
This work isn’t neutral.
It invites response.

Legibility and utility define one axis of typography; structure, rhythm, and perception define another.
Rather than existing in opposition to traditional type design, this approach extends its possibilities, treating letters as patterns, pathways, and evolving forms that engage the eye before the mind.
Where standard typography fades into the background, this work holds attention, guiding and shaping how text is perceived over time.

RESPECT THE MESS

Typography does not have to be a passive carrier of language.
It can be an active visual system, where recognition is not immediate but gradual, layered, and interpretative.
It doesn’t wait to be read, it shapes how reading happens. Structure becomes rhythm. Form becomes thought.
Type can inform, but it can also engage, captivate, and provoke thought.
It is about expanding how reading happens.
This is an approach that coexists with tradition, not in defiance, but as a necessary extension of what typography can be. A parallel path, built on exploration.
